Xerox copier toner - original or recycled?
Beyond a doubt Xerox is the granddad of copiers. In fact, Xerox created the first copier in 1959. So it's no surprise that Xerox copier toner is in demand. The choice of which copier toner to use - original or recycled is not always as clear.
Your have two options with Xerox copier toner:
- OEM or copier toner used in the original cartridge
- Recycled copier toner
The copier toner used by most recyclers is often stated as having better print quality than the copier toner used in original cartridges. The fact is Xerox copier toner is designed to work specifically in cartridges made for Xerox to be used in copiers made by Xerox.
Most recyclers on the other hand use toner that is fairly generic in nature. The toner is formulated so that it could be used for either printers or copiers. This is done in order to save on cost when used with remanufactured toner cartridges.
When looking for a Xerox copier toner alternative the relatively small savings from the use of recycled or remanufactured cartridges and generic copier toner has to be weighed against print quality issues and down time. When print quality issues arise it is difficult to tell if the problem stems from the remanufactured toner cartridge or the toner itself. It may well be that the copier toner is okay while the remanufactured toner cartridge is causing the print quality issues.
In the end it is up to the consumer to decide which option is best for their particular situation. If print quality is the single most important factor then stick with original Xerox copier toner and copier cartridges. Otherwise, using recycled materials may be a viable alternative.
