The laser printer toner cartridge may not be the only thing that needs replacing in your laser printer

When replacing a laser printer toner cartridge it is very important to also check the organic photoconductive (OPC) drum. Most laser printers have one and is a critical part that eventually needs replacing.

The laser printer toner cartridge may not be the only reason for diminishing print quality. Over time the light-sensitive coating on the surface of the drum begins to wear out. When that happens printer quality diminishes very quickly. In some cases, depending on the printer, the OPC drum is located inside the laser printer toner cartridge. This makes the replacing the cartridge much more expensive.

When replacing your laser printer toner cartridge make sure you also check the OPC drum and other consumables

Besides the laser printer toner cartridge and drum other consumables include the fuser unit and fuser oil as well as the waste toner bottle. If the drum is part of the cartridge then it is automatically replaced when purchasing a new laser printer toner cartridge. Check with your printer manufacturer to see if your cartridge has the drum integrated into it. If it is not integrated then you may have to replace it separately.

More and more, of the newer laser printers are eliminating the parts, or consumables that can wear out. So, obviously before purchasing a laser printer you should find out the durability of the printer and determine what consumable replacements besides the laser printer toner cartridge will need to be replaced.
