Cartridge ink recycling is good for the environment and easy on your wallet

Cartridge ink recycling involves refilling previously used cartridges with ink so that those cartridges can be used again. Cartridge ink recycling is also referred to as remanufactured or recycled printer cartridges. Cartridges can be recycled for up to 3 to 5 times before the cartridge is considered to have reached its useful life span.

Cartridge Ink Recycle process

The process of cartridge ink recycling involves disassembling, cleaning and refilling of ink and testing the cartridge to meet quality assurance standards. Cartridges should be recycled before they become completely empty. This is particularly true if the print head is incorporated into the cartridge as it is for Lexmark and HP inkjet cartridges. If the cartridge is run completely dry damage could result to the print head rendering the cartridge useless unless the print head is replaced. Laser toner cartridges can also be recycled much the same way as inkjet cartridges are.

Cartridge ink recycling has two main benefits. It holds down the cost of inkjet cartridge replacement and recycling is good for the environment too.
