Remanufactured toner cartridges help save the environment and your budget too

Remanufacturing is the process of restoring discarded or used products to a “like-new” condition, and returning those products to service. For example, single-use cameras by Eastman Kodak Company and Fuji are collected and remanufactured up to nine times. The same is also true of laser toner cartridges which have been remanufactured for many years to be re-used many times.

Today there are approximately 5,000 remanufacturers in just the United States that collectively remanufacture 27 million cartridges annually. Most are small operators with fewer than 20 employees that remanufacture 300 to 400 cartridges a month. A prominent study from the Rochester Institute of Technology states that a remanufacturer saves approximately 264 gallons of oil and 845 pounds of solid waste from landfills monthly.

As of 2003 the replacement toner cartridge market was $6.5 billion and could easily be three times as high by 2010. Currently 25% of the toner market is filled by aftermarket companies and that percentage of the market is growing fast.

One of the main reasons for the fast growth of aftermarket companies is the substantial savings to the customer. Remanufactured toner cartridges are at least 50% lower than name brand toner cartridges.

One of the greatest concerns from consumers is the quality of remanufactured toner cartridges. Toner cartridge manufacturers that care about their products and consumers adhere to ASTM 1856 standardized test method  for remanufactured cartridge quality. Remanufactured cartridges adhering to this standard are equal to or exceed the quality of original or brand name toner cartridges.

With remanufactured toner cartridges giving substantial savings of 50% or more and yielding quality equal to or exceeding that of brand name cartridges it makes it worth serious consideration when looking for your next laser toner cartridge replacements.
