Fierce competition in the inkjet printer supply market leaves the consumer in the driver's seat

So you think you got a good deal on your inkjet printer? You're probably right! In fact most people end up with a good deal on their inkjet printers. That may sound just a bit facetious but the fact is inkjet printer manufacturers often sell their inkjet printers at or slightly above their cost leaving them with very little, if any, profit from the sale of an inkjet printer. There is, however, a very logical and shrewd business reason behind doing this.

The fact remains that the greatest profits to be made from the sale of inkjet printers is from the sale of consumable inkjet printer supplies. Manufacturers know that everyone with an inkjet printer, or any printer for that matter, sooner or later needs to purchase consumables like ink cartridges and paper for their printer. Of course the  manufacturer of your inkjet printer is counting on you purchasing branded inkjet cartridges and paper from them. For example, if you purchase an Epson inkjet printer the hope is that you will buy original Epson branded inkjet cartridges and paper rather than a third party compatible inkjet cartridge and generic paper.

There are those who believe that the best quality output can only be achieved by using brand name inkjet printer supplies. In the past that may have been a fair statement but third party suppliers and merchants have increased the quality of their products significantly over the past few years and have closed the gap. Competition is fierce in the inkjet printer supply market with quality increasing continually and prices dropping leaving you the consumer on the winning end of the equation.
