Plotter inks - a special kind of ink
Plotter ink is a contemporary type of ink, specially manufactured for plotters and works uniformly well in raster and dashed line printing. The main components of plotter ink are nitrocellulose, auxiliaries, ethanol, isopropanol, ethyl acetate and organic pigments. It is delivered in a ready to print form and can be mixed according to the Pantone palette or the sample delivered by the client.
Ink for plotters is sometimes referred to as wide format printer ink and contains the following qualities:
- Excellent transmitting quality
- Totally soluble
- Increases raster point only slightly
- Ink properties remain stable during the process of printing
- Low remainder of solvent
- Highly photosensitive
The ink should always be stored at room temperature and in encapsulated containers. Before using the ink the plotter equipment should be properly cleaned to remove any traces of previously applied ink.
